Meet me

Hello! I’m Valeriia, a proud Ukrainian native who’s called Canada home for the past eight years. I’m currently in my last year at Carleton University, pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Critical Legal Studies. My academic interests revolve around policy work, particularly immigration and refugee resettlement—areas that are close to my heart as a member of the Ukrainian Canadian diaspora.

Since arriving in Canada, I’ve been deeply involved with the Ukrainian Canadian community, and for the past two years, have organized cultural and advocacy events with the Carleton Ukrainian Students Club. Bringing Ukrainian culture to the forefront on campus and beyond has been incredibly meaningful. The club has become a platform for sharing our heritage and raising awareness about Ukraine’s resilience and the intricacies of our cultural identity.

I’m also a passionate book lover, drawn to stories and reflections on social issues, identity, and belonging. My writing here will be a space to share my thoughts and experiences, exploring everything from cultural identity, social justice advocacy to personal and professional challenges.
